IMPORTANT INFORMATION
-
What do the horses eat?Rest assured your horse will get everything they need and more! First they get high quality roughages. Our pastures are full of lush coastal bermuda, so during turnout they can eat as much as they please! They also receive A & M grade Jigg's bermuda hay twice a day, cut from our own field. Twice daily feedings consistant with years of professional experince and vet backed information. We feed a mid-protein, high fat feed that is sure to keep your horse in prime condition. If your horse requires something special, such as alfalfa hay or unique feed please let us know so we can adjust as needed.
-
How much turnout time will my horse get?We think horses should be horses. As herd, grazing animals horses need time to run and play and eat. Most horses will be turned out with others so they have companionship. Actual times depend largely on the weather. On nice days they can spend 12+ hours outside. Rain or inclement weather will limit turnout times, but rest assured as soon as the weather passes, they will be able to be turned out again. In winter horses will tend to be turned out during the warmth of the day (with or without their blankets), while in the summer they will be turned out at night and inside under their fans during the day.
-
May I bring friends and family to the facility? The more the merrier! While we encourage friends and family members to enjoy the great outdoors with us, please keep in mind that horses are inhertantly unpredictable. Everyone is required to sign a liability waiver and it is your responsibility to make sure everyone stays safe while out-and-about. Minors MUST be supervised AT ALL TIMES!
-
What should I bring to my first riding lesson? We will provide the horse and the tack. You need: Long comfortable pants, comfortable t-shirt and boots with a heel. The 1st lesson we will provide a riding helmet (required for all mounted lessons), but after that you need to purchase one. Bringing a water bottle is always encouraged. During this lesson we will also do a farm tour and fill out paperwork. The first lesson is usually 1 1/2 hours. Please bring required payment (card, cash or check).

Why do you have a helmet policy?I know this can be a sticking point for western riders, but... ALL riders, English or Western, in lessons or not, inexperience or experienced are required to wear a helmet. No exceptions. Horses are inherantly dangerous and even the most experience horse and rider combinations can have bad days. Wearing a helmet decreases the risk of skull fractures and death signficantly. Even the FEI has helmet requirements for their top-level athletes and Fallon Taylor barrel races at the NFR with a helmet! It is for your safety we enforce this rule.
